Research Interest
The major goal of our research is to understand stem cells and to develop effective stem cell therapy and strategies for tissue repair and regeneration.

Stem cells offer a unique and powerful tool for basic research and regenerative medicine. However, major challenges still exist in understanding the biology and function of these cells to enable safe and effective translation of their use into a clinical setting. On the other hand, disruption of normal stem cell function and development may result in catastrophic disease conditions, such as premature aging and cancer. Our fields of interest extend from embryonic stem cells to adult stem cells, the basic biology of stem cells to their clinical applications. Our main research themes are:
Molecular regulation of adult stem cells
Stem cell therapy in tissue repair and regeneration
Crosstalk between stem cells and environment during aging and age-related diseases
Disease modeling using pluripotent stem cells
